Latin Catholics are a sub caste Christian, and the supreme power of the church controls by the Pope from Vatican. In Kerala, the contributions of Latin Catholics are numerous. The wedding ceremonies of Latin Cathoilcs are simple. Before marriage, there’ll be three announcements (in Sunday) and it’s for if any objection occurs towards the marriage ceremony by stating complaints to bride or groom and to stop the marriage. The Latin catholic weddings contribute a good percentage of financial benefits to Kerala matrimonials. After the three announcements in three adjoining Sundays, the process of marriage starts. The day before marriage some rites would have to perform in both brides and grooms home. Normally it was in the evening after seven pm and to till mid night. There would be a feast with delicious dishes. Before the feast starts, a ceremony called “Sweet tasting” held’s in the presence of god father. The other day, the marriage will take place at the groom’s parish church. Nowadays, Latin Catholics are spending much money for marriage functions. The wedding mass would be enriched with melodious devotional songs. Special choirs for wedding ceremonies and sweet music are common. Kerala matrimonials are incomplete without Latin catholic weddings. Perhaps the Latin catholic wedding ceremonies are happening in the presence of three priests. One main priest and the other two by standers. To complete the wedding ceremony, it’ll take minimum two hours. The wedding mass is lengthy with three biblical readings and special songs, besides some blessing prayers were also to read by the priests. The real marriage unity of the bride and groom in the holy matrimony in Christ would be in the middle of the wedding mass. The bride and groom exchange the ring and the groom ties the pendant chain on the neck of the bride and then gives the manthrakodi to her. After this, the wedding function is over by all means. Anyway, the catholic weddings are colorful from all aspect and such occasions are very much auspicious to Kerala matrimonials.
