Types of Marriages #9 : Muslim (Sunni) wedding


The Sunni and Shiya are Muslims and both believe in one god Allah, but actually they’re very different one to another. Or in other words, the Sunnis and Shiya, the Islamic sects are very distinct in their rituals and other religious activities. They both follow certain unique customs. Their traditions and even ceremonies are also different in every aspect. The weddings of Sunni and Shiya follows entirely different ceremonial activities and each are obviously not the same. In Sunni wedding, there would be the presence of two adult consenting male witnesses and it’s an important factor for Sunni weddings. The whole wedding ceremony would have the need for such vital presence of male witnesses. As per the rules of Sunni rituals, there is no requirement for such witnesses at the time of divorce. The Sunni wedding (Nikah) is not so lengthy.  Normally the Sunni weddings are not taking delayed with process and Sunni wedding would be completed within a short span of time. No verses have to be read in Sunni wedding. In Sunni wedding all ceremonial activities are simple. There is no compulsion or any restrictions for Sunni weddings. Sunni weddings are comparatively humble and simple and it enlarges lot of hospitality and love and Sunnis believes the weddings are the occasions to spread love, friendship and warm welcome. In Sunni weddings, there is no bath ceremony as Shiyas adopting as traditional ritual and Sunni wedding is much easier than other. The Sunni wedding not spends much time for Nikah and there would be the wedding ceremony is very short with rituals and customs. The Sunni wedding certainly needs the witnesses and this is an unavoidable part of Sunni wedding. Sunnis are still keeping some orthodox mentality especially in the wedding functions and comparatively they’re rigid. The Sunnis always keeps certain traditional mode of rituals and follows the usual patterns of wedding ceremony.
